Also interested. I tried to buy the Mac version, but CE sent me an email yesterday saying Mac SCAL is not compatible with Firmware version v2.31 that our Expression has.

"We are currently working on an update for the mac version", is all the detail I got on progress or a release timeframe.

I don't know how actively CE monitors these boards, but I'll ask here.

For Mac users who have Cricuts with Firmware that is not supported by the current Mac version of SCAL what are our options?
Do we just wait around for the new version - whenever that may be? The holidays are coming and people have projects they want to get working on.

Do we buy the Windows version? If so, can we cross-grade for free when the new Mac version is released? I don't want the Windows version. And I want to boost Mac sales numbers vs Windows, but I also have projects to be working on.

Wondering.

I am running the current version with an E with version 2.32 of firmware. What I have to do is unplug the usb cord between cuts to ensure that it doesn't crash on the second consecutive cut. Prior to that I was turning off the machine between cut, but got the tip to just unplug the USB cord and this is better because it doesn't unload the mat. Perhaps you can get craftedge to sell you a copy with the understanding that you will have to use this workaround.

From CE:
"We probably won't have a mac one for a couple of months still

The windows and mac versions require separate licenses to be purchased"

So if you have a Mac and recently bought or are planning to buy a Cricut, don't expect to be able to use SCAL.

I too am waiting and hoping for the Mac version. I was told it was supposed to be "this year". I am hoping this is true.
I have debated on buying version 1 and get the free upgrade to version 2, but it has to come out within 30 days of my purchase.
I contacted Craft Edge on Monday, asking if they had any idea of a release date yet, but have not received a response. (sigh)
I can't afford to buy two versions, but I really would like to get started using it. The free trial is just teasing me! I just got my Cricut for
my birthday November 4th, - I waited to buy the Cricut until I found a software that would work for Mac... but now.. I still don't have one.

I am confused Jasen, doesn't version 1.0 work with the Cricut? It just doesn't have all the new features right?

It depends on your firmware version. When we bought our Cricut Expression, it came with firmware version 2.31. Mac SCAL 1.0 was not compatible with that firmware at that time. Since then, CE has released a new version of SCAL 1.0 that claims to make it compatible with firmware 2.3. I haven't tried buying it again as we bought the Windows version of 2.0.

I bought the Mac version last night, which works great on the new (red!) Expression. Firmware 2.31. Been cutting all day!

I have been contacting them since July. Last week I got word from them saying they expected it to be released this week, Dec. 1-4. I hope it comes out. I have been waiting to buy it and I can't wait to start using it!
